If either parent holds permanent resident status, it is necessary to apply for both Permission to Acquire Status of Residence and Permanent Resident status for the child within 30 days of the child’s birth.
I submitted both applications together, and just two days later, we received a postcard from the Immigration Bureau notifying us of the approval.
Today, we successfully obtained the child’s residence card as a “Permanent Resident,” and we feel relieved and reassured!
